“When the whales at SeaWorld were played a sound recording of a group of whales made at sea, they all stopped moving in their tanks. Then one of them, Corky, began shaking violently. The tape was playing sounds of her family. “I have no idea if this creature shares any feelings that we know as humans, but her reaction reminded me of the times I heard messages from my own family when I was a hostage in Lebanon. I would feel great relief at knowing they were well, but also much sorrow and a sharpened longing to be reunited with them. “What is clear is that Corky could recognize her family’s sounds after years of separation…Knowing only this much I believe it is pointless and cruel to keep these animals apart for commercial reasons - to exploit them for commercial entertainment.” -John McCarthy, journalist
Imagine being a Doctor Who fan in 1966 though.
“Oh dear, what’s happening? Is the Doctor dying?
What. The. Shit.”
My nan has been watching Doctor Who from the get-go
According to her the first regeneration made the entire country go ape-shit and she has vivid memories of her entire family being frozen in front of the TV in shock for about an hour
After someone watches this, I don’t understand how they can still support the meat industry. I never used to be a militant vegan, but I’m slowly moving in that direction because I have been able to introduce a vegan diet into 3 people’s lives in the past year. So honestly, fuck your tastebuds, fuck your traditions, think about these fucking animals that die solely for your taste! If that isn’t selfish, I don’t know what is. GO VEGAN!
note: I am not sorry.
Not relevant to cetacean captivity, but equally as horrific and important.
oh my god I am crying right now. I will never have meat again.
When was the Doctor and Clara’s first meeting?
The first one we saw was this
but the first time he sees her face is this
and the first time he meets the non-echo Clara is this
except he doesn’t realize it’s her until this
but the first time she remembers meeting him is this
when actually the first time he met her was this
Welcome to Doctor Who
This is not okay. The society we live in is so harsh and treats croissants so unfairly compared to other pastries. It’s 2013, stereotyping and bullying such a delicious food cannot be accepted. This should have 2,345,554 notes. We need to spread awareness. pastry shaming is NOT okay. They are NOT here for your entertainment, they are people too. #respectcroissants
if you dont reblog this you have no heart
